If you are a member of a local group or have a business - why
not host your site on Kirkstall Online. Voluntary and community groups
can have a website for a nominal annual fee.
What do you get?
- 20Mb of webspace
- Web address of www.kirkstall.org.uk/username
- 1 email address - username@kirkstall.org.uk
- Free e-mail forwarding
- FTP access to your website
- Listing on Kirkstall Online
How much will it cost?
For non-profit community groups and individuals, the above package will
cost you only £10 per year.
Costs will be slightly higher for profit making organisations
and will depend upon size of business, number of employees and
turnover. Costs will be kept to a minimum to encourage small local
businesses to be part of Kirkstall Online.
I want more than your basic package
We can add to the basic package with the following:
- A website of www.username.kirkstall.org.uk
- Extra e-mail addresses
- Extra webspace
- Taking digital photographs for your site
- Scanning logos and photographs
- Basic web design of sites
If you are interested in any of these services please contact us
and we will give you a quote
I want my own domain name
If you want extra services and your own domain name, you should contact
Matthew Guy the founder of this website who also provides domain registration and website hosting services.
Why do you charge?
We are making nominal charges for webspace to ensure that groups and
individuals who take up our offer of webspace and e-mail make use of
it. There is nothing worse than abandoned sites which no-one has
touched for years.
Money raised will also help towards the costs of maintaining
and improving the site - we will not make a profit.
Can't I get all this for free elsewhere?
Yes you can.
We are not competing against Internet Service Providers or big
hosting companies. We want people to use kirkstall.org.uk for
innovative and interesting sites which will be of interest to people in
the local community and beyond.
You should rent space from us if:
- You want to support the site
- You think our charges are reasonable
- You think it is cool to have the name of where you live as
part of your web and e-mail address
Do you guarantee access and service?
Sorry, no we don't. Big internet companies crash and encounter other
problems and they spend millions on their infrastructure! We hope that
we will be reliable but we are only as good as the firm that supplies
us access to the net.
If you have any other questions, please contact us.
